Welcome to Spectrum Set Free! My name is Kim Pagano, co-founder and proud mother to a sweet little boy diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I thought I would kick off this blog with an introduction to our site, share a bit about my family’s story, and touch on why we’re so committed to bringing real truth, real change, and real hope to the families we assist here.
When we set out to create this site, we did so with all the determined parents of children diagnosed with autism in mind. The parents who are dedicated to find a better way to manage and overcome the debilitating stressors that come with the diagnosis. The parents who desire more peace, calm, and clarity within their homes. The parents who love their children more than anything in this world and are on a mission to find a way to make life better for their families. I know these parents well, because I am one.
Autism is a condition that once made daily life a real struggle for my son and our family. My son’s medical issues started when he was 3 months old and eventually led to an autism diagnosis, coupled with a laundry list of comorbid conditions and severe developmental delays. With the assistance of Dr. Antoine Chevalier our family has completely transformed the way we approach autism. After experiencing The Chevalier Method, both our son and family have been set free from the impacts that autism was having on daily living and our family’s quality of life.
Before meeting Dr. Chevalier, my family and I were on the brink of total breakdown. We were trapped in what felt like a never-ending cycle of false hope, guilt, fear, action, and acceptance. We were trying so desperately to manage and keep afloat of the impact that autism was having on my son and our daily life. Smiling on the outside, completely overwhelmed and consumed by autism on the inside. I wish I could say that our experience is unique, but the truth is- it’s not.
Autism now affects more than 1 in 36 children in the United States, (if not more).
Autism is considered to be a life-long developmental disability which causes significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges. The most recent report released in 2016 by the CDC estimates that 1 in 54 children have autism in the United States. This indicates a 178% increase in autism prevalence since the year 2000 when the autism prevalence was just 1 in 150. However, more recent independent studies estimate the true rate to be closer to 1 in 36 children .
If this trend continues by the year 2032 the rate and impact to our country will be 1 in every 2 children.
Let that sink in for a moment…
For those impacted by this diagnosis, daily life is presented with a myriad of challenges and the medical, spiritual, and education communities are at odds with understanding this complex and often misunderstood diagnosis. Families are stressed, sleep deprived, fearful, and overwhelmed. Searching for anything to cope and met with tireless protocols that barely move the needle. It is my goal to help more families access Dr. Chevalier’s method and move toward improving the quality of life for their children and themselves.
Navigating and parenting through an autism diagnosis takes resilience, but it doesn’t have to steal your joy. Our children and our families are not defined by the label, and it is absolutely possible to live a life full of connection.
So, from my heart to yours… I am beyond grateful to share about our journey to hope, transformation, and freedom, and I look forward to assisting other families impacted by autism do the same. Thank you for stepping into this journey with me, and I can’t wait for the day your family is set free.
